2018 In Review

2018 was a year that was filled with many new and exciting things, I started freelancing more and worked on a few exciting projects, as well as got to gain tons of new experience in the graphic design industry. Dipping my foot into working alone as a freelancer was interesting and taught me lots about people and what sort of design work I might be interested in once i’m done my degree.

This year I also moved back home for the summer and worked full time as a waitress at Original Joes, as well as launching Malorie Design. I also had the opportunity to work with Ashely Hempel Photography as a second shooter, something that I love love love doing and shot a few amazing weddings throughout the summer.

This fall I moved back to the city and into my fist townhouse, that I share with 2 other people and begun my second year in Design Studies. This semester brought on a lot of new challenges; as it usually does, and I got to take a range of classes such as Design History, User Experience, Typography and Intro to Video. I loved gaining experience in these classes, especially Video and User Experience and can’t wait to further my knowledge in the winter semester.

For 2019 I hope to go into it with the same energy and stamina that helped me launch Malorie Design and complete my first year university. I hope to learn lots in my Winter classes, as well as work with a few more clients this winter. This spring I hope to land a position working with a design agency in the city or with a company that helps me grow as a designer. I also hope to stay in the city and work and prepare for my third year of university. I also hope to take time for myself and get back into some sports and other extra curricular actives. As this year comes to a close I have come to realize that although design is a huge part of my life, I still miss and love thous other parts such as sports and other interests. I feel like it’s important to try many new things and not just do one thing all the time, and that’s mostly why I plan to get out more and try some of my other interest and hobbies in 2019.

All in all, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and had the chance to visit with family and friends, as well as catch up on some well deserved rest. I can’t wait to see what 2019 wish nothing but the best to you all in the new year!
